American public and private space expectations
People are expected to park in between the lines. This is a picture taken in the parking lot of where I work. Some of my co-workers were playing a game, and I was glad I did not become apart of this. Some people really do park like this on a normal basis, but it is rude and uncomfortable for others having to park around them.

An Example of Male BFFs
This is some guys that were at church Sunday night. They seem to be really good friends :)
It seems like when guys are around there BFFs they are nothing but goof balls. (See guy with closed eyes...he did that on purpose)

A minor crime in America
This is a warning I got when I was speeding on my way to work. I definitely deserved an actual ticket, but he let me off with only a warning :) I was probably going 50-60 mph in a 40 zone. From this I probably suffered a bruised reputation, because I know the police man outside of this event.

The Idea of American Femininity
Pictured is hair dye, hair spray, powder & brush, mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, pink nail polish, and my favorite perfume.
In America I feel like as a female we are expected to use all of these products and more for a very unrealistic look. Some of the most feminine women I know are known for their make-up and styled LONG hair.

An American Place of Worship
This is one of the sanctuaries at the church I go to, First Baptist Spartanburg. This is inside of The Hangar, which is a separate building that we are blessed to have for mostly youth through young adults. This is also a meeting place for Merge (the college and young adult ministry) on Sunday nights. Crossfire is held here for the youth on Wednesday nights.

A Typical American Lunch

Kraft microwaveable Mac & cheese is something I eat every Saturday I work for lunch. I also eat this at school when I don't want to go out for lunch. I don't know if this is typical American, but it is typical me. This is something easy and pretty cheap to do for lunch if you have a microwave and water...don't forget the spoon :)

An American Childhood Milestone

 

 

This is my niece Karrigan, she just started walking recently, and had her first birthday this week. Walking would be an example of a childhood milestone. This is her just getting a little bit of help from a bar stool.

This is a necklace that my cousin got me for Chirstmas. It is a magnified peice of map where Istanbul is. She loves to travel and was excited to hear that I would finally be getting out of the country.

This blog is part of a class project. I am doing study abroad with Greenville Tech over spring break. We will be flying out to Istanbul, Turkey on March the 29th and returning on April the 7th.

I will be posting the picutures for this project on here. We have to find pictures of 5 typical American objects and 5 picutres of examples of ideas, like greetings and gestures. When we get to Istanbul we will then take picures of these things there.

I also be posting some about by first experience on a flight for any reason at all.

Originally from Germany, Volkswagens are now made in America.

Americans now look for small full efficient vehicles to get around in. This is due to the increasing gas prices.

Those who do not live in large cities will normally have their own form of transportation, may it be car, van, truck, motorcycle, or bike.
